Morocco’s under-17 national team relinquished its lead in Group A to Ecuador 0-2 on Monday in the second round of the World Cup finals in Indonesia.
Michael Bermudez scored two goals in the 62nd minute from the penalty spot and 90+3.
The victory was Ecuador’s first in the finals after a 1-1 draw with Indonesia in the first round. She snatched the lead from the only Arab representative in the world football tournament, raising the score to four points, one point. ahead of the Atlas Cubs.
Morocco is participating in the finals, which began in 1985, for the first time in its history since reaching the round of 16 of the African Championships held in Algeria last May, when it finished second to Senegal.
The Moroccan national team began its participation in the World Cup finals in Indonesia with a well-deserved victory over its Panamanian counterpart with a score of 2:0 in the first round last Friday.
Indonesia will later play Panama in the same group.
Morocco will play its third match against hosts Indonesia next Thursday.
The champion and runner-up in each of the tournament’s six groups, as well as the top four third-place teams, advance to the 16th final.
