Watford are set to complete the signing of Ismael Kone from Montreal in what is expected to be a record sale for the Canadian club, according to Fabrizio Romano.
Kone is a 6’2″ 20-year-old linebacker who mostly plays a central role and contributes equally at both ends of the field. However, he is quite capable of playing deeper as a shield in front of the back row or further behind the striker.
Joining Montreal in August 2021 as a free agent, Koné made a total of 32 appearances for the club in all competitions, scoring four goals and providing five assists. He is now set to sign a long-term contract with Watford, apparently pleased with the project at the Pozzo family’s championship club.
The Pozzos are set to continue their tradition of early signing of highly talented players to both Watford and Udinese, which in the past has meant they have chosen players such as Bruno Fernandes, Richarlison and Rodrigo de Paul.
