Looking to return to victory immediately in the early hours of Friday morning, Seattle will make the trip to Q2 Stadium when they face Austin.

Starting with the hosts, while Austin may have stunned many across the MLS when they picked up that 4-1 shock against Portland at the July opening, it looks like it could have been just a small rebound for the latest American franchise. The last time he saw his national team lose ground with a well-deserved 2-0 defeat to Los Angeles at home, head coach Josh Wolff saw his team fight once again last time around. Using their break to squeeze in a friendly against Mexican club Tigres UANL, Austin was hit by a 3-1 defeat at Q2 Stadium. Fighting firmly at the foot of the Western Conference, the hosts on Friday managed to record only one win in any of the last 10 consecutive races, a run that dates back to May 2.

As for the visitors, while Seattle may have put on what was a tough show at Minnesota United last weekend, it wasn’t enough to keep their extraordinary unbeaten alive. They ultimately struck with a 1-0 away defeat, this was the Greens’ first MLS defeat in any of their opening 14 domestic games so far this season. However, despite their blip out of Washington last time around, Brian Schmetzer’s men are still leading the race to the top of the Western Conference. By holding a three-point buffer over Sporting KC, the mood in their field should still be at the highest level. With top scorer Raul Ruidiaz already racking up 10 MLS goals since the opening of the 2021 campaign, the Sounders certainly look in an interesting condition when they head to the Q2 stadium on Friday.
