Market: Both teams score
Chance: 7/10 @ 888sport
Two teams that are really looking for a boost in the early hours of Thursday morning, Montreal will welcome Atlanta at the Stade Saputo.
Starting with the hosts, while Montreal may have found itself enjoying what used to be a purple star in early July, Wilfried Nancy’s men are truly grounded. Losing what many across MLS thought was a golden opportunity at a struggling Inter Miami last weekend, the Blacks were hit with a shocking 2-1 away defeat, a result that saw them be subjected to a real exam. Now with only one point to spare from leaving seats in the Final Series, Montreal has lost each of their last three MLS races during the lap. Despite showing a number of recent problems on the back, the hosts on Thursday should at least be encouraged by their continued success at the Stade Saputo. Including a stunning 5-4 win over Cincinnati last month, Nancy’s side have collected 10 points in their last four home games.
As for the visitors, who threw the lead away in Orlando last weekend, the Atlanta away show almost underscored what has been a nightmare campaign for former MLS champions. Hit by a couple of late goals and eventually slipped into an action-packed 3-2 defeat, the Five Stripes are still looking for a new permanent boss to their bench. Struggling to find their place under the guidance of interim manager Rob Valentino, Thursday’s guests are in a real uphill battle to secure a shock seat at the Final Series. Without a win in any of the last 11 consecutive outings, a run that dates back to May 16, Atlanta has earned a reputation for its lively results. With each of the last three races outside the Mercedes-Benz Stadium ending with both teams finding the net, we are supporting a similar result here.
