Milan are hard at work finding common ground with reps Olivier Giroud and Rafael Leão over new signings for the attacking pair, but there is no real progress yet to report, according to sporting director Frédéric Massara. Considering the club has been making efforts for several months now, it seems that there are serious obstacles in the way.
Giroud and Leão are of course at different stages in their careers, the French striker is 36 and the Portuguese striker is 23 and interest in their services varies. But they have both been instrumental in bringing Milan back to the top of Italian football in recent years, most notably last season’s triumph of the Scudetto.
Clearly, there are more reasons to protect Leao’s value with a new contract, despite having 12 months left on his current contract at the end of the season when Giroud’s current contract expires. A number of top European clubs are believed to be closely monitoring the Leao situation.
