Messi arrives in Barcelona

Argentinian Lionel Messi, star of Paris Saint-Germain, arrived in Barcelona on Sunday after the conclusion of Lille’s match in the French football league.

Messi led Saint-Germain to a thrilling 4-3 victory over Lille by scoring the winning goal on the minute (90+5) in the local league matchday 24.

According to the Spanish newspaper Mundo Deportivo, Messi returned to his home in Barcelona for the first time since winning the World Cup, accompanied by his wife Antonella and three children.

Saint-Germain coach Christophe Galtier gave the team two days off on the condition that Paris resume training next Wednesday in preparation for the Marseille match.

Jorge, Lionel Messi’s father, was in Barcelona last week after talks with Luis Campos, Saint Germain’s sports adviser, and Nasser Al-Khelaifi, club president, over the renovation of Paris.

Messi’s contract with Saint-Germain expires at the end of the current season, but an extension clause is expected to be activated for another season with the French capital club.
