Mauricio Pochettino praised the players’ performance given their full debut for Chelsea in a narrow League Cup win over Wimbledon, but was not taken by reports that the club were on the verge of signing Manchester City’s Cole Palmer.
It took Chelsea’s first goal from Enzo Fernandez in the second half to finally fend off a League Two challenge to seal a 2-1 win after Noni Madueke equalized from a penalty at the end of the break.
