Massimiliano Allegri urges swift reaction from frustrated Juventus after unexpected loss

Massimiliano Allegri has urged his “angry” Juventus squad to get back to winning ways when they host top-flight Lecce.

Juventus missed the chance to go top of Serie A on Saturday after a surprise 4-2 defeat to Sassuolo.

The Bianconeri took 10 points after an unbeaten start but suffered a setback at the Mapei Stadium as Sassuolo battled for a second league win.

“Tomorrow we will have to get back to winning ways to immediately move on from the heavy defeat to Sassuolo,” Allegri said.

“The team is angry and regretful about what happened, but at the same time they are motivated. There is a real desire to get back on the field as soon as possible.

“We had a bad night, we made mistakes that allowed our opponents to win the game, but we played well.

“We defended poorly and some mistakes cost us dearly. I hope that the support at home will give us additional momentum in the match against Lecce. We need to have the right attitude, take initiative and above all a positive attitude. It will be very important to get three points.”

Third-placed Lecce will head to the Allianz Stadium unbeaten in their first five league matches after three wins and two draws.

They are one point ahead of Juventus and four behind leaders Inter Milan, who have made a great start to the season.

“Lecce are a strong team and they are coached superbly by Roberto D’Aversa,” added Allegri.

“They are a technical team and it is no coincidence that they are still undefeated. (Football director) Pantaleo Corvino has put together a very competitive squad, even last year too. It will be a good game.”
