Manchester United mocks Manchester City over Pep Roberts’ desires: Eat, Pray…or Disdainful?

Manchester City may have reached the Champions League quarter-finals after a 7-0 thrashing of RB Leipzig, but it was their local rivals who got ahead of Pep Guardiola.

Erling Haaland led with five goals as City triumphed 8-1 on aggregate against Leipzig, but Guardiola’s post-match comments drew attention.

City’s manager said he will always feel like a ‘loser’ after failing to meet one of his idols – Hollywood star Julia Roberts – when she arrived in Manchester in 2016.

In a bizarre twist to his press conference, Guardiola explained that he was in pain because Roberts slept with the enemy.

“She came at a time when we were better than United, those four or five years,” he said.

“And she went to visit Manchester United. She didn’t come to us.

“So even if I win the Champions League, it doesn’t compare to the fact that Julia Roberts came to Manchester and didn’t come to see us. My idol.”

United were quick to remind Guardiola of this on Wednesday, posting pictures of Roberts’ visit to Old Trafford in 2016 on social media.

The caption read: “Throwback to when Julia Roberts visited Old Trafford.”

Roberts visited the Theater of Dreams in November 2016, although United failed to score three points in her presence, only drawing 1-1 against West Ham.

She then met with the team players with her children after the game.
