Manchester United are reportedly interested in signing Marc Cucurella from Chelsea. According to Fabrizio Romano, they contacted the London Blues to inquire about potential terms for such a deal. No specific talks have taken place yet as the Spaniard is just one of three options the 20-time English champions are considering to replace the injured Luke Shaw.
Former Chelsea midfielder Mason Mount is also currently out of action and is expected to be out for up to six weeks, with United manager Erik ten Hag saying he expects Shaw to stay out longer.
Meanwhile Cucurella, who joined Chelsea from Brighton in 2022 for almost £60m, has failed to establish himself as a starter for Mauricio Pochettino, with Ben Chilwell leading the pecking order on the left. He has played all three of the Blues’ games this season on the bench.
But after the club sold Lewis Hall to Newcastle a couple of days ago, it remains to be seen if Pochettino is willing to let his only alternative go.
