This was reported by CBS Sports journalist Ben Jacobs. Caught Outside that Manchester United and Manchester City are interested in signing Alexis Mack Allister from Premier League rivals Manchester City in the summer transfer window.
A well-known and respected journalist has revealed that Manchester United and Manchester City have been discussing the potential signing of the 24-year-old Argentine midfielder.
Jacobs said: “A slightly cheaper option from Brighton could have been the Mac Allister. Manchester City and Manchester United have discussed him within the company, but so far nothing more.
“Liverpool and Chelsea are also worth keeping an eye on. Mac Allister is under contract until 2025 with an option for a one-year extension. And after he won the World Cup with Argentina, we see pretty high numbers.
“While Brighton are not directly bidding bidders on players they do not plan to sell, insiders suggest the Seagulls could be looking at £60m. This is far more than the numbers he was estimated by fans both in January and before the World Cup, with estimates ranging from £27m to £35m. I think that such a bet would now be ridiculed in the hall.
“But as the World Cup hype subsides and his contract shrinks a bit, let’s see how Brighton react to the incoming bids. I was told that at that point McAllister would assess his options in the summer. Although he speaks enthusiastically about the Premier League, he is not opposed to moving to another European league. His priority is to play regularly in the Champions League.”
