Manchester United are reportedly keen to secure Facundo Pellistri’s future by getting him to sign a new contract. According to Fabrizio Romano, the 20-time English champions consider achieving this goal one of their priorities at the moment.
Pellistri joined United at the end of the 2020 summer transfer window and was sent on an 18-month loan to Alaves the following winter so he could get some regular game time to aid his development. . The 21-year-old winger returned to Old Trafford in the summer of 2022 but has made just 12 appearances for the club so far, recording just one assist.
However, with Anthony’s future uncertain due to allegations of domestic abuse, as well as the recent fallout between manager Erik ten Hag and Jadon Sancho, there is a possibility that United will need Pellistri’s attacking contribution at right-back.
Pellistri has just under two years left on his current contract and doing everything possible to avoid a serious bid to buy him out next summer certainly makes sense from a United perspective.
Understand that Manchester United now considers Facundo Pellistri’s new agreement a priority, as negotiations have already taken place in April and in the summer 🔴🇺🇾
