Loris Karius set for early Liverpool return?

Loris Karius is supposedly set for a January go back to Liverpool after having a hard time for game time during his loan spell at Union Berlin.

Liverpool goalkeeper Loris Karius might supposedly head back to Anfield in January after an underwhelming stint at Union Berlin

The German shot-stopper joined the Bundesliga outfit on loan in the summer, however Karius is yet to make a top-flight appearance for the club as 33-year-old Andreas Luthe remains Urs Fischer‘s primary.

Karius recently made his debut for Union Berlin in the DFB-Pokal, however the 27-year-old delivered 3 goals as Fischer’s side were knocked out by second- tier side Paderborn.

Now, German outlet Kicker reports that Karius’s loan spell at Union Berlin is expected to be cut short, and the goalkeeper will head back to Merseyside in January.

Karius was a regular for Besiktas during his two-year loan spell in Turkey, however the shot-stopper is thought to have actually fallen out with club chiefs as his time in the Super Lig ended in May.

Karius still has 18 months left to run on his existing Liverpool deal.
