Liverpool are continuing their bid to sign Jude Bellingham from Borussia Dortmund in the summer and according to multiple sources their confidence in the ongoing transfer is steadily growing despite the fact that Real Madrid and Manchester City remain serious contenders for the midfielder’s signing . As stated by Sky Germany’s Florian Plettenberg, a move to Anfield would offer Bellingham the chance to become the new Steven Gerrard, a Merseyside club hero.
Talks between Liverpool and Bellingham’s entourage, namely his father, are ongoing, but at this stage no promises have been made and Bellingham himself is yet to speak to Jurgen Klopp, another man whose name links the two clubs.
If they win this race to convince the 19-year-old to pick them ahead of other interested clubs, Liverpool will still have to contend with Dortmund to find common ground on a potential transfer fee, which looks set to rise well above the current club record. £100m Premier League deal set by Manchester City when they signed Jack Grealish from Aston Villa in 2021.
News #Bellingham: Liverpool bosses still optimistic about signing him in the summer. Talks have taken place but important to say: he hasn’t spoken personally yet #Klopp until now. And there is no official offer. #LFC offers him the chance to become the new Steven Gerrard. @SkySportDE 🏴ӠӠӠӠӠӠ pic.twitter.com/gQihoVzY7P
