LaLiga News: Ronaldo criticizes the “frivolous” and “disrespectful” rumors about the future of Juventus

On Tuesday, in a post on social media, Juventus star Cristiano Ronaldo lashed out at “frivolous” and “disrespectful” speculations about his future.

There has been great uncertainty over the 36-year-old’s intentions ahead of the 2021-22 Serie A season as he entered the final 12 months of his contract.

Ronaldo has been linked to a number of clubs, including Paris Saint-Germain and the former Real Madrid side, whose coach Carlo Ancelotti spoke this week to deny reports that the player would be returning to the Santiago Bernabeu.

Manchester United, where Ronaldo won three Premier League titles and the 2007-08 Champions League, and England champions Manchester City have also been touted as possible destinations in this transfer window.

Ronaldo released a statement via his official Instagram page in response to “people playing under my name” as he suggested that no one was interested in knowing “the real truth” of his intentions.

Although he offered no assurance that he would stay at Juve, Ronaldo pointed out that the story of his Real Madrid career was “written” in the post, which accompanied a photo of the Portugal captain holding a finger to his lips.

The post read: “Anyone who knows me knows how focused I am on my work. Less chatter and more action, this has been my guiding motto since the beginning of my career. However, in the light of all that has been said and written recently, I must set out my position.

“More than the disrespect for me as a man and as a player, the frivolous way in which my future is covered in the media is disrespectful to all the clubs involved in these rumors, as well as to their players and staff.

“My story at Real Madrid has been written. It has been registered. In words and numbers, in trophies and titles, in records and titles. It is in the Museum of the Bernabeu Stadium and is also on the mind of every fan of the club. And beyond what I achieved, I remember that in those nine years I had a relationship of deep affection and respect for the ‘merengue aficion’, an affection and respect that I still have today and that I will always cherish. I know that true Real Madrid fans will continue to have me in their hearts and I will have them in mine.

“In addition to this most recent episode in Spain, there has been frequent news and stories that have associated me with a number of clubs in many different leagues, without anyone ever bothering to try to find out the truth.

“I am breaking my silence now to say that I cannot allow people to continue playing with my name. I remain focused on my career and work, committed and prepared for all the challenges I face. All the rest? Everything else is just talk. “

Juve starts the new season at Udinese on Sunday.
