LaLiga News: Real coach Ancelotti refuses to be drawn in pursuit of Mbappe after Betis win

Real Madrid manager Carlo Ancelotti has dismissed speculation about Paris Saint-Germain star and Los Blancos transfer goal Kylian Mbappe.

Real are reportedly negotiating with PSG in an attempt to award Mbappe from Paris while there was talk of an offer of 170 million euros plus 10 million euros in additions for the French international.

Mbappe still has a year on his contract, but Real Madrid are determined to sign the 22-year-old – who has scored 133 goals in 174 games for PSG – at the rate of one goal every 102.46 minutes – before the transfer window ends.

Ancelotti was asked about Mbappe after Real Betis beat Real Betis 1-0 on Saturday, but did not want to shed light on the possibility of the Frenchman moving to the Santiago Bernabeu.

“We should continue talking about the match because the rest is a matter of the club, which is working on it,” Ancelotti told reporters.

“I don’t know the details at this stage.”

Dani Carvajal’s sublime second-half volley secured Madrid a well-deserved victory at Betis.

Carvajal hadn’t scored for Los Blancos since November 2019, but the fit full-back marked his return to the team with a second half after being prepared by Karim Benzema.

Benzema was involved in five goals in the first three games of a LaLiga season (two goals and three assists) for the first time in his career at Real Madrid.

“The first 45 minutes were much more balanced and much more than the second half,” Ancelotti said when asked about Benzema.

“We tried to get the ball high on the pitch as quickly as possible and that’s where [Karim] Benzema struggled a bit because he had to sit a little deeper to try to win back the ball when we weren’t in possession.

“But I think Karim made a difference again today because he made a great cross in the box for Carvajal and we won the game.”
