Joan Laporta believes that Barcelona’s strong contingent of players in the Spanish national team can help the national team win the World Cup.
A 7-0 loss to Costa Rica was followed by a 1-1 draw against Germany, putting the 2010 champions on the verge of reaching the playoffs.
Barcelona young pairing Gavi and Pedri attracted attention in midfield during the first two matches, with Ferran Torres scoring a brace against Costa Rica.
Laporta expressed his pride in their performance, while the Barcelona president believes that Spain’s positive results are due to the work of head coach Xavi at club level.
“I think it’s fantastic. Barcelona are proud to see how the national team plays and how our players perform,” he told AS.

“[Spain head coach] Luis Enrique was able to take on all the pressure, which is a way to take the pressure off the players.
“He has been very bold in betting on very young players who are falling in love with the world and it just so happens that most of them are from Barça.
“The good role of the Luis Enrique national team is also due to the good work of Xavi at Barcelona, where the most players.
“For me, Spain, along with Brazil and France, are big favorites for the tournament.”
Spain will face Japan in the final group match, where victory will confirm first place.
