Atletico Madrid defender Kieran Trippier has declined to discuss speculations linking him to Manchester United, insisting that his full focus is on England’s Euro 2020 campaign.
Trippier has been linked to a move from Liga champions Atletico to Premier League giants United this off-season.
The 30-year-old has spent the last two seasons in Spain and is reportedly open to a move to United, but has declined to discuss any possible moves ahead of Wednesday’s Euro 2020 semi-final against Denmark at Wembley.
“I just enjoyed the season [at Atletico] and we won the title, ”Trippier told reporters.
“I’m away with England, we’ll play Denmark and I’m not focusing on my club or what’s going on.
“I’m focused on England and I’m doing the best I can if I play. If I don’t play, I still give 100%. “
Trippier, who still has a year left from the end of his current contract with Atletico, is riding a wave of confidence after winning the LaLiga title, which is oozing in his performances in England after starting against Germany and Croatia.
“It’s been an incredible season and it motivates me to win more, even at my age,” said Trippier.
“Coming away with England gives me real confidence and maybe I can share that experience with others who haven’t won.
Then again, we have players who are winning trophies with their clubs now and they all have that winning mentality. “
United have not won the Premier League title since 2012-13, nor any trophies since 2017 after losing the 2020-21 Europa League final to Villarreal.
