LaLiga News: Barcelona begins the search for Koeman’s replacement

Following a 3-0 defeat at the hands of Benfica in the Champions League on Wednesday, Barcelona have begun the process of identifying a suitable replacement for Ronald Koeman as manager, according to Fabrizio Romano. The process is expected to take several days, with each board member interviewing many different candidates.

Former Barcelona midfielder Xavi Hernandez in the name most quoted by the press in that aspect over the past two days, alongside Roberto Martinez. As for Xavi, Atletico Madrid striker Luis Suarez has openly advised his former team-mate to wait a bit, believing the situation at the Catalan club is bad at the moment. Meanwhile, Barcelona captain Sergio Busquets has expressed his opinion that firing Koeman would not solve anything at the moment.

However, it cannot be denied that the situation at the club is very serious. Barcelona have lost both Champions League games so far, having been largely overtaken and beaten 0-3 at home by Bayern Munich in the opening round.
