LaLiga News: Ancelotti salutes ‘match completed’ from Madrid as Los Blancos beat Barça in Clasico

Carlo Ancelotti praised Real Madrid for a “complete match” when Sos Blancos beat Barcelona 3-1 in Sunday’s Clasico.

Ancelotti’s side have won six of their last seven matches against Barça in all competitions, after goals from Karim Benzema, Federico Valverde and Rodrigo set maximum points at the Santiago Bernabéu.

Subsequently, Los Blancos went three points clear at the top of La Liga, dooming their rivals to their first home loss of the season.

And the Italian was pleased with the confidence and control demonstrated by his wards. When asked what the key to his team’s victory was, he told DAZN, “That’s it. We needed to do a full match and we did it.

“It is true that the start was good, we took the lead quite early and controlled the situation well in the second half. We had a lot of confidence, with and without the ball.

“It was clear that [Eder] Militao had to put pressure on [Robert] Lewandowski. We controlled the players well between the lines with [Toni] Kroos and [Aurelien] Chuameni”.

Valverde scored the best goal with a beautiful 20-yard strike to double Madrid’s lead in the 35th minute, and it was the first goal Los Blancos scored at home against Barca from outside the box since Raúl did so in the 1998-99 season.

After failing to score in La Liga last season, the Uruguay international has scored four goals in nine matches this season.

“I try to enjoy every position, give my best in every position,” said Valverde. “I know that at the top I can contribute with goals and assists, and in the middle with work and energy. I managed to score and I am very happy.

“We knew it would cost. I think we worked well, we knew how to defend ourselves and suffer, and in attack we came out quickly.”
