LaLiga News: Allegri ignores the speech on Pjanic’s return as the Juventus boss plots a new role for Ramsey

Massimiliano Allegri ignored rumors of a possible Juventus return for Miralem Pjanic, saying Aaron Ramsey could instead be used in a deeper role this season.

Pjanic left for Barcelona last year in an exchange with Arthur but his time in Spain was unhappy, the midfielder only starting six LaLiga games under Ronald Koeman in 2020-21.

It is speculated that the 31-year-old wants to return to Turin, where he could be reunited with Allegri, the coach with whom he won six trophies in Italy.

Allegri, however, seems more interested in turning Ramsey into a defensive midfielder before the start of 2021-22.

The Welsh international started from the base of a three-man midfield in Saturday’s 2-1 friendly win over Monza, regaining possession four times and completing 100% of his passes in his 45-minute exit.

Ramsey has been linked to a possible return to the Premier League, but it looks like Allegri has major plans for the 30-year-old if he’s ready to embrace the change of position.

“The club runs the market. We talk every day, “Allegri told Mediaset when he was asked about rumors about Pjanic.

“The team … it’s a good team. Ramsey played very well today in front of the defense and I think Aaron, in front of the defense, can become a really important player.

“[Pjanic] gave me great victories. But he is a Barcelona player.

We have talented players and I think if Ramsey is convinced he is playing in front of the defense, he can become important. There he runs less and can rest more on the ball ”.

Juve will face Barça in the pre-season match of the Joan Gamper Trophy on 8 August.
