Kvaratskhelia´s Napoli impact similar to Ronaldo at Inter says ex-Nerazzurri president Moratti

According to former Nerazzurri president Massimo Moratti, the influence of Napoli star Khvichi Kvaratskhelia is similar to that of Ronaldo at Inter.

The Georgian national team player, who arrived from Dynamo Batumi in July, played an important role in the impressive start of the season for Parthenopeya. Luciano Spalletti’s side were eight points clear at the Serie A summit and 11 points clear of Inter.

No player has scored more goals this season than Kvaratskhelia (11 – scored six, assisted five) and is only equaled by teammate Victor Osimhen, who is the top scorer in Italy’s top division (nine).

The 21-year-old’s performances have sparked interest from several clubs, with Premier League side Newcastle United reportedly making him a top target.

Kvaratskhelia is looking to pick up where he left off when Napoli resume their attack for the Scudetto against Inter on Wednesday, and his performances have caught Moratti’s attention.

The former Inter president has been compared to Ronaldo, who immediately took over the Nerazzurri after leaving PSV in 1997, scoring 34 goals in 47 matches to help the club win the UEFA Cup in his first season.

“They are different players, but the impact was the same,” Moratti told Radio Punto Nuovo. “However, Ronaldo came to Italy and somehow already broke through.

“I wish the Georgian the same career and explosion as the Brazilian. He will play a decisive role in Napoli’s victory with his talents.”

Ahead of the blockbuster, Moratti believes a loss at the San Siro will end any title hopes for his former club.

“For Inter, the match against Napoli will be very important, more than for Napoli,” he added. “It will be a tough climb for Inter this restart of the season.

“There is pressure on Napoli for stability because we will have to see if after the break there will be [they] will have the same formidable vehemence as in the first half [of the season].

“For Inter, on the other hand, all the pressure is related to the fight for the Scudetto. To lose on Wednesday would be to slip away forever.”
