Juventus secure victory over Cremonese and inch closer to top four despite Pogba’s goal

0

Juventus were on the cusp of Champions League qualification with a 2-0 Serie A win over Cremonese on Sunday, though their win was marred by yet another Paul Pogba injury.

With his sights set on Thursday’s Europa League semi-final decider against Sevilla, Massimiliano Allegri made seven changes to his squad, giving Pogba his first Serie A start since returning to Turin.

Pogba’s exit lasted just 24 minutes as he was substituted in tears after he appeared to have suffered a thigh injury and although his departure initially affected Juve, midfielder Nicolò Fagioli broke Cremonese’s resistance with a powerful strike after the break.

Bremer led the last second as Juve led fifth-placed Milan by eight points with three games remaining, leaving them in favor for a top-four finish, provided their 15-point deduction was not restored .
