Jude Bellingham scores winning goal after Real Madrid’s debut goal celebration at Athletic Bilbao

England international Jude Bellingham scored on his La Liga debut as Real Madrid started their league season with a 2-0 win over Athletic Bilbao.

Bellingham, who joined Real Madrid this summer from Borussia Dortmund, scored his side’s second goal eight minutes before half-time.

Rodrigo opened the scoring nine minutes earlier, proving Real Madrid’s dominance, centered on Bellingham.

Saturday’s other two games in La Liga ended in draws: Real Sociedad lost 1-1 to Girona at home, while Real Mallorca scored a point with the same scoreline at Las Palmas.

Takefusa Kubo gave Socieded the lead just five minutes later at the Real Arena, but Artem Dovbyk’s header in the 72nd minute secured part of the trophy.

Las Palmas took the lead with a Jonathan Viera penalty in the 29th minute, but the hosts couldn’t keep the lead and Antonio Raillo equalized in the second half.

Paris Saint-Germain saw their Ligue 1 campaign start in a disappointing fashion as they lost 0-0 to Lorient at the Parc des Princes.

Despite creating numerous chances, PSG have been unable to find a way out through staunch opposition and will feel like it was a two point loss case.

Meanwhile, Kylian Mbappé, Neymar and Marco Verratti, who were all linked with the Paris exit, have been left out of the squad for matches by boss Luis Enrique.

And Marseille beat Reims at the Stade Vélodrome, with Vitinha’s 73rd-minute goal securing a 2-1 victory after Junya Ito gave Reims the lead and Azzedine Unai equalized.
