Jorginho offered new Chelsea contract amid Barcelona and Juventus links, says agent

According to the midfielder’s agent, Chelsea have offered Jorginho a new contract amid rumors that several clubs are looking for him.

The Italy international, who has been a Chelsea regular for the past five seasons, is due to become a free agent at the end of the current campaign.

Barcelona and Juventus are reportedly looking to start talks with Jorginho in January, while Chelsea’s Premier League rivals Newcastle United have also been linked to the former Napoli player.

However, Jorginho’s agent Joao Santos said the 31-year-old would first discuss new terms with Chelsea regarding an extension of his stay at Stamford Bridge.

“His contract expires June 30,” Santos told Tuttomercato. “We have an offer from Chelsea for an extension and we will give it priority.”

Napoli were also interested in returning Jorginho to the top of Serie A, with Santos suggesting a return is possible if an approach is made.

“Naples was the home of Jorginho, and he was very much appreciated there. This is a special club for us, so we welcome any interest. But at the moment, Napoli have not contacted us,” he said.

Jorginho has made 20 appearances for Chelsea this season – only Kai Havertz (21) and Mason Mount (22) have made more appearances, with 16 of those games being starts.

He has equaled Thiago Silva in most interceptions (25) among Chelsea players this campaign, while only Marc Cucurella has won as many (22).
