In two of those victories, in Vienna and Beijing, Sinner defeated Medvedev in the final and on Saturday won his third match in a row against the Russian, ranked third in the world.
Saturday’s second semi-final is expected to be tough as Djokovic continues to chase a record seventh title in the final tournament.
