A source at Egyptian club Al Ahly said the Fédération Internationale de Football Association (FIFA) has rejected a request to split tickets for the Club World Cup scheduled for December next year.
Al Ahly will face Saudi Arabia’s Jeddah Al Ittihad in the quarter-finals once the latter beat Auckland City in the preliminary round.
In a statement to the Kooora website, a source said: “Al Ahly had hoped to get their share of the tickets and distribute them to their fans, but the International Federation refused and insisted on offering tickets through their system in batches starting Tuesday.”
Al Ahly fans in Saudi Arabia, the Gulf and Egypt are awaiting the opening date for bookings via the e-booking system on FIFA’s website to secure tickets for the team’s first match to wear the number 2, facing the winner of Ittihad. Jeddah and Auckland City.
