Norwegian star Erling Haaland, striker for Manchester City, made a funny statement about his Spanish coach Pep Guardiola after he was voted the best player in Europe for the season (2022-2023) on Thursday night.
Haaland said after receiving the award at the Champions League group stage draw ceremony in Monaco: “It’s a great feeling, I don’t have enough words to express what I experienced last year. I’m living the dream, it was my dream when I was young I got the treble with Manchester City. Won the European Champions League, the English Premier League and the FA Cup.

The Norwegian added: “I am delighted to make this dream come true with my colleagues from Manchester City. It motivates me even more and gives me the motivation to go on a new adventure, win more titles and win awards. It’s a source of inspiration.”
In response to a question about how he was stopped by defenders, Haaland said: “You don’t have to ask me how to stop me, ask other teams’ defenders.”
And about how he maintained his level, he said: “I do my best to be at the top, but motivation, motivation, composure and clarity of vision after winning titles, and that we have offensive sharpness.”
He repeated: “I focus on the principle of motivation, on my work and on building a good future next season.”
And about his relationship with coach Pep Guardiola and whether he is more afraid of him or of his father, Alf Haaland, he replied with a laugh: “Sometimes I am more afraid of Guardiola than my father.”

Haaland concluded his speech with: “But my father also scares me, but I like it, and I like that Guardiola accuses me to my face, because it shows that I’m missing something. I never complain about his appeal or his fault to me.”
Erling Haaland (23), under Guardiola, led Manchester City to the Premier League title for the first time in their history, the European Champions League, as well as the European Super Cup and the FA Cup.
The Norwegian star has scored 52 goals in all competitions, won the Premier League top scorer with a record 36 goals, the European Champions League with 12 goals, and won the English Premier League Player of the Year and Manchester City Player of the Year awards in this season, as well as the PFA Player of the Year award following his exceptional first season at Manchester City winning a historic treble.
