Gundogan’s Agent: Future Uncertain with Possible Barcelona Move

Ilkay Gundogan’s future remains “open” despite reports that the Manchester City midfielder is looking to join Barcelona after his contract expires, according to his agent.

City captain Gundogan is entering the final three months of a four-year deal he signed back in 2019, and the Germany international has yet to agree to new terms.

Gundogan has appeared in 24 of City’s 27 Premier League games this campaign, but reports have claimed he is set to move to Camp Nou at the end of the season.

Despite speculation that Barcelona are ready to offer Gundogan a two-year deal, the player’s agent and uncle Ilhan Gundogan say nothing has been decided yet.

“There is definitely no agreement with any club yet,” he told The Guardian. “In recent weeks, Ilkay’s attention has only been focused on Manchester City and the birth of his son.

“Now he is in the final and decisive phase of the season and is fully focused on this. Where Ilkay will play next season is still unknown.”

Gundogan has won four Premier League titles since joining City from Borussia Dortmund in 2016, scoring twice in the return win over Aston Villa to give Pep Guardiola’s side their final triumph on the last day of last season.

The 32-year-old did not play for the German national team during the recent international break and Hansi Flick refused to call him up after the baby was born.
