Guardiola has decided on his position on the move of the City star to Barcelona.
Manchester City head coach Josep Guardiola has spoken out about the move of 32-year-old team captain Ilkay Gundogan to Barcelona next summer.
Notably, Gundogan was the first signing in the era of Pep Guardiola, and after the departure of Fernandinho, Gundogan was elected captain of the team by his colleagues, and therefore he wants to take on a new challenge when his contract expires.
In a press statement and when asked by Guardiola about Gundogan’s departure, he replied: “It couldn’t be clearer with Gundoga about renewing his contract.”
Guardiola added: “I know that his name is closely associated with Barcelona, especially since his contract expires in the summer.”
German midfielder Ilkay Gündogan joined Manchester City in 2016 from Borussia Dortmund, where he made 278 appearances and won 4 Premier League titles as well as 4 League Cups.
