Glentoran’s European qualifier ends in penalty agony after epic shootout

    Warren Feeney’s Glentoran suffered penalty grief after a dramatic Europa Conference League first qualifying round clash with Gzira United, ending in a 14–13 shootout loss.

    Trailing 1-0 in the first leg in Malta, Glentoran saw Bobby Burns concede a first-half penalty before James Singleton ruled out a try in the 94th minute.

    Burns redeemed himself and caused much celebration when he fired from close range in the 13th minute of stoppage time to force extra time.
