Two teams enjoying their extended purple spots, Nashville will welcome Inter Miami to Geodis Park early Thursday morning.
Starting with the hosts, while Nashville may have been forced to settle for a 1-1 draw away to DC United last weekend, the Music are in the midst of what has been stellar form. After kicking off May with a terrific performance as they fought their way to a 3-0 win against Chicago, Gary Smith’s team once again impressed many in MLS as they kicked off the 2023 campaign. Once again named top contender for another playoff berth this season, the Tennessee team is at the height of its popularity. Undefeated in each of their last six home games in a row, Nashville has also built a reputation for its continued success on home soil. Including an attractive 3-1 win over former MLS champions Atlanta on April 29, Smith’s team won their previous four games at Geodis Park, a streak in which they scored nine goals.
As for the away side, while Inter Miami may have endured a nightmarish slog opening the 2023 campaign, Phil Neville’s team is back with a roar of some style. He was last seen putting on another eye-catching performance as they took a 2-1 home win over New England. The former Everton midfielder has seen his side win each of their last five consecutive matches in all competitions. Starting May with a 2-1 win over Atlanta, the Harons will be desperate to make another Eastern Conference midweek statement. Finding a clinical advantage in the final third, Miami will call on attacking talisman Joseph Martinez to lead their attack here. With the 29-year-old scoring three MLS goals in as many games, Thursday’s visitors have also built a reputation for their flashy performances. It should be noted that Neville’s team has had four of their last five matches with both teams scoring goals, and here we expect the same result.
