    FIFA Ranking Points to be Awarded to Russia for Performance in Asian Championship

    The press secretary of the Football Federation of Tajikistan Feridun Salif confirmed that the teams participating in the first championship of the Central Asian Football Federation will receive FIFA ranking points based on the results.

    The Russian news agency RIA Novosti quotes Feridun Salif as saying: “The tournament will take place during the FIFA international break in June and all points will go to the classification. This is the first ever tournament agreed with the Asian Football Confederation.”

    Feridun Salif, in a statement to the Russian sports channel “Natch TV” today, Tuesday, said that the first draw of the Championship of the Central Asian Football Association “CAFA” will be held with the participation of the Russian team, and the group stage Matches are scheduled in the capital of Uzbekistan Tashkent and the capital of Kyrgyzstan Bishkek Tournament will be held from 9 to 21 June 2023.

    The Central Asian Football Association (CAFA) was established in June 2014 and is one of the five regional associations of the AFC.

    Participation in the tournament was confirmed by all six members of the federation: Afghanistan, Iran, Kyrgyzstan, Tajikistan, Turkmenistan and Uzbekistan.
