The top of the nine qualifying tournament groups qualify directly for the 2022 World Cup, provided that the owners of the top four runners-up teams enter the African Supplement to win the Global Supplement Participation Card.

The International Federation of Football Associations (FIFA) has announced an increase in the number of places for the African continent in the World Cup to 9 teams and one third, changing the tournament system, which will be held with 48 teams instead of 32.

It is noteworthy that the Egyptian team failed to qualify for the 2022 World Cup in Qatar, losing to Senegal on penalties in the third and final qualifying round.
