Egyptian Refereeing Committee Makes Surprising Move Following Zamalek’s Complaint

The Egyptian refereeing committee, headed by Portuguese Vitor Pereira, has decided to remove international referee Amin Omar from managing Zamalek’s league matches in the coming period.

The committee decided to summon Amin Omar to an investigation at the Jabaliya headquarters to discuss some of his arbitration decisions regarding the Zamalek-Arab Contractors match.

This comes after Zamalek FC lodged a formal complaint with the Egyptian Football Association against Amin Omar, the referee of the Mokawlun match.

On Monday, Zamalek drew with Arab Contractors in the second round of the Egyptian Premier League with a score of 1-1.

In a statement, Zamalek said it was demanding that referee Amin Omar be removed from managing matches in the future because he belongs to one of the rival teams.

The match saw some controversial refereeing decisions, in particular the disallowance of Zamalek’s goal and the lack of a penalty in favor of the white team.
