On the verge of winning their first Bundesliga title since 2012, Borussia Dortmund appear to be planning a future without Jude Bellingham. They are in talks over a proposed move for Edson Alvarez from Ajax this summer, according to Florian Plettenberg.
Alvarez appears to be a good friend of Sebastian Haller and the in-form striker is pushing for a deal. The 25-year-old Mexico international is believed to have become interested, impressed by Haller’s efforts to get him to Signal Iduna Park.
Alvarez started his career at CF America in his home country and joined Ajax in 2019 for a reported fee of €15m. Since then, he has played a total of 146 matches.
A slightly different player than Bellingham, Alvarez mostly plays closer to his own net than the opposition’s. Its quality is believed to be attracting the attention of a number of clubs across Europe and Dortmund will want to close the deal as soon as possible to avoid possible complications later.
❗️News #alvarez: They #Haller still very good friends. Haller puts a lot of pressure on him and has spoken to Alvarez many times to convince him to join the team. #BVB in summer. Alvarez is impressed.
There is no verbal agreement between him and Dortmund yet, but the transfer … pic.twitter.com/IN3TjHxIjy
