Aston Villa, who have signed John Duran, have “every desire” to succeed at Villa Park after completing their move from the Chicago Fire.
The 19-year-old striker’s arrival was confirmed on Monday when he joined Unai Emery’s squad for a reported fee of up to £17.8m ($22m).
Colombian international Duran had a successful Major League Soccer debut, scoring eight goals and three assists in 27 appearances for Fire.
The former Envigado striker wants to repeat this form as he aims to make his mark in the Premier League.
“I have every desire in the world,” Duran told Villa’s official website. “I have a great desire to work hard, give my all to the team and win. I hope to be able to play soon.
“I am a player who plays with great passion, who is committed to the team, and a player who really wants to always win.
“I know this is the most important league in the world. This is the best league in the world and I have every desire to get on the field and score the first goal.”

Duran is said to have signed until June 2028 and is looking forward to a project under Emery, whose side are 11th in the Premier League but just three points behind sixth-placed Brighton and Hove Albion.
“We spoke; he said some very touching words and gave me a huge welcome,” Duran said of Emery.
“Now I can talk to him and we can discuss everything related to the project. I think it’s a very good project.”
