Martin Dubravka’s loan to Manchester United was cut short by Premier League rivals Newcastle United.
The Slovakian international moved to Old Trafford in September to compete with first-choice goalkeeper David de Gea alongside Tom Heaton.
Dubravka made only two appearances for United, both in the EFL Cup, beating Aston Villa and most recently Burnley.
He has not appeared on the bench for United in their last two Premier League games and has now been recalled by Newcastle.
Both clubs confirmed the news on their official websites on Sunday as the transfer window officially opened.
Dubravka is expected to be Nick Pope’s understudy at high-flying Newcastle, who are two points better than United by playing a game more.
He has made 130 appearances for Newcastle since joining Sparta Prague in January 2018 and was voted the club’s Player of the Year in the 2019–20 campaign.
All the best, @HecoDubravka! #MUFC
