Decline of Morocco in the Ranking of Arab Teams

The monthly ranking of national teams, announced by the International Federation of Football Associations (FIFA) today, Thursday, shows the decline of the Moroccan national team at the global level and its retention of the first place in Africa and the Arab world.

Morocco dropped to 14th place with a score of 1655.5 points, but retained first place on the African continent ahead of second-placed Senegal in 18th place in the world with a score of (1612.61 points), followed by Tunisia in third place in Africa and 31st place in the world with a score of (1516.66) points.

Morocco’s decline in the FIFA rankings came as a result of Mexico’s crowning of the CONCACAF Gold Cup, which led to its rise to twelfth place in the world rankings, in addition to the Atlas Lions’ goalless draw against Cape Verde in a friendly match between them on Moulay Abdullah’s boat in Rabat, and their two-two loss to South Africa in their fifth-round match-up 202 3 African Cup of Nations qualifiers Côte d’Ivoire.

Algeria and Egypt retained fourth and fifth places in Africa and 33rd and 34th in the world, respectively.

Egypt played two games last June, beating Guinea two by two, once in the last round of the African Cup of Nations qualifiers and beating South Sudan 3-0 in a friendly match.

As far as Asia is concerned, Saudi Arabia retained the lead among the Arab teams on the Asian continent despite falling to 54th in the world, followed by Qatar (59), Iraq (70), UAE (72) and Oman (73).
