Death of Honorary President of Real Madrid

    The Spanish club Real Madrid announced today, Tuesday, the death of the honorary president of the royal club and one of the royal legends.

    A statement on Real Madrid’s official website said: “The club, its president and board of directors express their deep regret at the death of Amancio Amaro, honorary president and one of the legends of our club and world football.”

    He added: “Real Madrid expresses its condolences and love to his wife Consuelo, his children Oscar, Belen, Amancio, Patricia, Marcos and Claudia, his brother Juan Carlos, his grandchildren and all his relatives, colleagues and loved ones.”

    And he continued: “Amancio came to Real Madrid in 1962 from Deportivo La Coruña and defended the shirt of our club for 14 seasons until 1976, and he has always been an example for the fans of Real Madrid and the entire sports world.”

    He continued: “Amancio Amaro passed away at the age of 83. All Real Madrid fans and all football fans will remember him as one of the greatest legends of the sport.”

    He concluded by saying: “Real Madrid extends its condolences to all the fans of the club. Rest in peace”.
