David Raia is expected to leave Brentford this summer after he turned down two new contract offers from the club, according to Fabrizio Romano. The 27-year-old goalkeeper is believed to be preparing for a ‘big’ move and several clubs appear to be monitoring the situation.
Speaking about it last month, Brentford boss Thomas Frank expressed serious doubts that Raja would stay at the stadium this summer.
Raya arrived in England 10 years ago to join Blackburn Rovers at under-18 level and after a short loan spell at Southport he spent five years as Blackburn No. 1 before joining Brentford in 2019 for £3 million. Since then, he has stood between the posts in 147 games in all competitions for the Bees, scoring 50 times. He has been indispensable at the club this season, starting all 24 Premier League matches despite the arrival of Thomas Strakosi last summer.
Ray’s current contract expires in 2024 and the club will likely authorize a sale at the end of this season so as not to lose his services without compensation.
