Competition: La Liga
Market: Celta Vigo win
Chances: 5/6 @888sport
Sensing a chance to extend their unbeaten streak in La Liga on Monday night, Celta Vigo will take on struggling Mallorca at Balaidos.
From the hosts to a stunning comeback on their last legs away at Sevilla when they eventually pulled out a 2-2 draw last week, Celta Vigo continued to impress many on both sides of the March international break. Ahead of a two-week break with a stellar 3-1 away game against relegated Espanyol, Carlos Carvalhal’s side are now firmly set on a first-half foothold in 2023. From the looks of it, the former Sheffield Wednesday boss should smell the chance for his side to make another La Liga statement here. With their extended purple spot marked by a 3-0 win over Rayo Vallecano on 11 March, Celta Vigo certainly had a real clinical lead in the final third. It should be noted that Monday’s hosts have landed 10 shots in their last four matches alone.
As for the guests who last saw themselves having to settle for a thrilling 3-3 draw against relegated Real Valladolid, Mallorca are in the midst of a protracted rut. Javier Aguirre’s side were almost in limbo in La Liga but have now failed to win any of their last six consecutive top-flight matches, a streak that starts on February 18. With their nightmarish rut highlighted by a 2-1 loss to Espanyol, the former Zaragoza boss will have a major headache due to his team’s rather blatant struggles on the road. In fact, on what has been a remarkable surge, Mallorca have taken just one point in any of their previous seven La Liga competitions outside of Palma. Having suffered a sharp 4-3 defeat when they toured to Balaidos last season, a similar home win can be found here with great odds.
