Bundesliga News: Kimpembe out of France squad as Deschamps called up Disasi and Thuram

Presnel Kimpembe was replaced in France’s World Cup squad by Axel Disasi despite returning from injury for Paris Saint-Germain over the weekend.

After missing victories over Juventus and Lorient, PSG defender Kimpembe played the final 15 minutes of Sunday’s Ligue 1 triumph over Auxerre 5-0.

Kimpembe, who represented France 28 times, said after the match that he “feels good” and looks forward to meeting his country in Qatar in 2022.

However, on Monday, the French Football Federation announced that the defender “does not consider himself recovered enough” to represent the reigning world champions.

Didier Deschamps has added centre-back Disasi, who has made 23 appearances for Monaco this season, to his 26-man squad as a replacement for Kimpembe.

Borussia Mönchengladbach striker Markus Thuram has also been called up after scoring 13 goals and adding four more assists in 17 games this season.

France are due to meet at their training ground in Clairefontaine on the Monday ahead of their first Group D match against Australia on 22 November.

Les Blues, who are trying to become the third team to win consecutive World Cups, will then take on Denmark and Tunisia.
