RB Leipzig have signed striker Andre Silva from Bundesliga rivals Eintracht Frankfurt, it was announced on Friday.
Silva enjoyed a stellar 2020-21 campaign and the Portuguese international joins Bundesliga runner-up Leipzig with a five-year contract until 2026.
The 25-year-old, who moved permanently to Eintracht from Milan in Serie A in September after coming on loan in 2019, scored 28 Bundesliga goals last season – only Bayern Munich’s Robert Lewandowski (41) made more. .
“I am really excited about the new challenge at RB Leipzig,” said Silva. “The club has great goals and ambitions and I want to help them achieve them, ideally by scoring as many goals as possible. I want to play at the highest level and this is Champions League football: I have the chance to do it regularly at RB Leipzig.
“It didn’t take long for the club management to convince me of their vision and above all of their football philosophy. Although I still have some free time to enjoy myself, I’m already excited to start the new season with RB Leipzig. “
“I would like to sincerely thank Eintracht Frankfurt. I had two fantastic and successful years there and I was able to really grow as a player ”.

Silva scored 40 goals and provided 12 assists in 57 Bundesliga games for Eintracht in Frankfurt.
He has scored 45 goals in all competitions for Eintracht as he has reportedly drawn interest from the likes of Manchester City, Manchester United and Barcelona.
“Capturing Andre Silva with a long-term deal is a special transfer,” said Sport Commercial Director Florian Scholz. “Not only do we get a footballer of immense quality, but we do it in a very profitable business from a financial point of view, with his transfer fee well below his current market value.
“Andre made it clear to us from the start that RB Leipzig was his favorite destination and we are absolutely delighted to have completed the move, especially for the share in question. “
Leipzig technical director Christopher Vivell added: “Andre Silva is one of the best strikers in the Bundesliga and has already demonstrated his qualities internationally. It suits our team and our style of football both as a person and as a player.
“Andre is a real goal, as evidenced by his tally of 28 goals last season. But he’s also a complete striker: he can finish with both feet, he’s strong in the air, and he’s technically gifted. We were therefore able to add a different type of player to our squad that makes us more versatile in attack, makes us less predictable and also brings a serious threat to goals.
“At 25, even his development is far from over. He will be able to take the next step with us and become a key player for RB Leipzig in the coming years. We are happy to have him on our team. “
