Brighton boss De Zerbi backs Arsenal target Mudryk to win Ballon d’Or

Brighton head coach Roberto De Zerbi believes Arsenal’s goal of Mihail Mudrik could win the Ballon d’Or.

Shakhtar Donetsk winger Mudryk is the Gunners’ main target in the January transfer window, and talks between the two clubs are ongoing.

Premier League leaders Arsenal have reportedly turned down a £57m (€64.4m) offer for the sought-after Ukraine international.

De Zerby knows all about the 21-year-old’s abilities, having worked with him during his tenure as Shakhtar manager in the 2021/22 season.

The Italian believes that Mudrik is destined to become the best player in the world.

Speaking ahead of Brighton’s game against Arsenal on New Year’s Eve, he said: “Mudrik is a fantastic player but Brighton can’t buy him.

“I like him because I like all my former players. But Brighton can’t buy him, Arsenal, I don’t know.

“I think Mudrik can win the Ballon d’Or in the future. I know the value of Mudrik, he has the potential to win the Ballon d’Or.

Arsenal head coach Mikel Arteta declined to comment on Mudrik’s potential move ahead of the Gunners’ departure for the Chaikas match.
