Roughly a year after the departure of Poland’s top scorer Robert Lewandowski to Barcelona, Bayern Munich set aside €100m to find a replacement, signing England captain Harry Kane on Saturday.
Kane has signed a deal with the Bayern side until 2027, after the latter agreed a €100m deal, the highest in German league history, with Tottenham Hotspur for the 30-year-old striker, whose contract is with North London would expire next year.

Overall, Bayern Munich, a six-time Champions League winner, doesn’t spend huge amounts of money on signing players compared to many of their European rivals.
However, Kane’s announced inclusion amount exceeds Bayern Munich’s previous record of €80m, which he paid for the services of Atlético Madrid’s French defender Lucas Hernandez in 2019.

The Bayern side have been looking for a striker since the departure of their top Polish scorer Robert Lewandowski to Barcelona, Spain at the end of the 2021-22 season, scoring 344 goals in 375 matches.
Bayern suffered from Lewandowski’s absence last season: in his eight years in Munich, the Polish striker averaged 30 goals per season, while no team player scored more than 15 goals last season. German Cup before winning the local title in the last breath.
As for Kane, he has scored over 20 Premier League goals in six of his last nine seasons and has been top scorer three times.
