Xavi Hernandez, head coach of FC Barcelona, has said he is close to renewing his contract with the Catalan club as Xavi’s current contract with Barça expires at the end of next season.
Barcelona signed Xavi as the team’s coach in November 2021 and he has managed to lead the team to victory in the Spanish League Championship and the Spanish Super Cup.
Xavi decides to stay at Barcelona
Although Xavi’s current contract with the team expires in 2024, press reports have recently indicated that the club’s management is in talks to extend it.
Xavi was asked about it and he said in statements to the Spanish newspaper Sport: “The update is very close and I would like to tell you that it is 90% done and the announcement will be made very soon.”
And he continued: “The level of expectations at Barcelona is very high, and in terms of renewal, there is no problem with this, as I said, we are very close.”
Barcelona is Xavi’s second training experience after Al-Sadd in Qatar.
It is worth noting that Barcelona was able to win the championship of Spain in the 2022/23 season for the twenty-seventh time in its history.
This tournament is the second for Barcelona under the technical guidance of Javi Hernandez after winning the Spanish Super Cup.
