Arsene Wenger admits Mesut Ozil does not have the “greatest discipline”

Former Arsenal manager Arsene Wenger states that Mesut Ozil’s discipline on the pitch is not the biggest, with the midfielder’s future at the Emirates looking bleak.

Former Arsenal manager Arsene Wenger has confessed that Mesut Ozil does not have the best discipline on the pitch following the midfielder’s recent troubles at the Emirates Arena.

The ex-Real Madrid man has cut an annoyed figure in North London over the past couple of months and has been overlooked of Mikel Arteta‘s squad for the Europa League group phase.

Ozil has not included for the Gunners since their triumph over West Ham United in March – prior to the coronavirus lockdown – and Wenger has claimed that the 31-year-old’s discipline is not the greatest element of his game.

“He wasn’t exactly the one with the greatest discipline on the pitch,” Wenger informed Der Speigel.

“And playing the game without the ball wasn’t exactly his forte. But you can deal with that if you put some more defensively minded players by his side. The main thing is to get the balance between attack and defence right.”

Ozil runs out contract at the Emirates next summer and has revealed his desire to stay in North London up until his deal goes out, with the playmaker apparently refusing a lucrative move to Saudi Arabia regardless of apparently having no future withArsenal
