Brighton and Hove Albion are close to completing the transfer of Ansu Fati on loan from Barcelona, according to several sources.
The Seagulls’ interest in the 20-year-old striker comes as Julio Enciso has suffered a long-term knee injury and manager Roberto De Zerbi is looking to bolster his attacking position to prepare the team for the upcoming Europa League campaign.
Fati had previously been linked with a move to the Premier League, with Manchester United and Wolverhampton Wanderers showing interest in him, but for a long time he resisted any idea of leaving the Camp Nou. For now, however, he is believed to be looking to increase his chances of regular playing time, and to that end, he is ready to take a temporary step to further develop before returning to Barcelona next summer. Brighton are also believed to be facing late rivals Sevilla, but the player is clearly looking to test himself in the English top flight.
Apparently, today (Thursday) Faty is going to England to undergo treatment in Brighton.
