According to the latest report from HOWLuka Modric has received an extremely lucrative offer to leave Spain and move to Saudi Arabia this summer. The offer appears to be worth a total of €50m on a two-year deal, and Modric is believed to have informed Real Madrid’s hierarchy of the offer.
The offer came at an awkward moment when Real Madrid and Modric were mulling over their options at the end of the season. At the moment, the club have two particularly troubling issues: the fact that Saudi Arabia’s offer is twice what they’re paying the Croatian captain right now, and they can’t match it, and that Modric is apparently insisting to keep playing for your country. They have reservations about adding a number of games to the schedule of the player, who turns 38 this year.
On the other hand, they are aware of Modric’s role in their success over the last couple of seasons and the fact that he is still playing at the highest level.
As for Modric himself, the fact that the Saudi offer not only doubles his salary at Real Madrid, but also doubles the length of time he will sign if he decides to stay in the Spanish capital.
